Being proactive can help us to be more relaxed, prepared and in control, as we are able to establish precautionary steps for potential situations. Along with that, being proactive, as opposed to reactive to situations, is also correlated to our career success, better health, and better relationships.

Many people abstain from dangerous actions, such as smoking, because they know it causes cancer and various diseases; yet, it is also important to take positive actions in order to prevent health issues. Studies have shown that taking antioxidant supplements and vitamin D supplements can prolong mortality in healthy patients; so other measures, similar to this, should be taken in order to improve future life-quality. Furthermore, taking a proactive approach to coping has proven to contribute to improved mental health because it makes adapting to situations more tolerable. When people act proactively, they gain a sense of control over their lives. This feeling of control elicits the confidence in people that allows them to trust their ability to avoid obstacles and threats. Eliminating fear of failure and future adverse situations has been correlated with reduced anxiety and depression, as well as a more positive self-image and image of the world around us. Lastly, those who approach their career proactively are more likely to try to solve problems, transform their career, and grow financially. Even if an unexpected challenge comes up, proactive workers are more likely to bounce back and recognize the unlimited approaches to rationalizing a situation and finding a solution.
